Situated 45 minutes drive from Lusaka. Well established community with 5-15 acres of land and are able to engage in meaningful agricultural production given some initial assistance in form of capital inputs.
TeleFood provided them with 1 boar, 5 pregnant gilts, 84 bags of feed on 14 December 2004. Total value of these inputs was US$ 3 738. With the first fallow in March 2005, the Club acquired 22 pigs and distributed to the first 9 members piglets, one piglet each. Second fallow in June 2005 produced 47 piglets but unfortunately 6 died. All the members now have two female piglets being kept at their house whilst the Club Piggery continues to keep the balance for the continuation of other Club activities. Project has demonstrated a character of being progressive and self-sustainable. The Club is now focussing on reducing cost of production by puying cheaper feed, increasing the number of animals and have started thinking of new profitable activities such as vegetable gardening. The FAO Representative officially handed-over the project on 23 August 2005.
