This project is designed to gather and share information relevant to the control of two of the most important diseases in the OIE List of Notifiable Diseases, foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and classical swine fever (CSF), both of which have caused devastating outbreaks of disease in Europe and continue to pose a serious threat to our livestock industries.
What are FMD and CSF, why are they important and what is the coordination action doing about them?
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and classical swine fever (CSF) have both caused devastating outbreaks of disease in Europe and continue to pose a serious threat to our livestock industries.
The main benefits of this Coordination Action are:
Better coordination between Community and National Reference Laboratories, and International Animal Health Organizations
Better and more efficient collaborations within this network
Improved management structure
Improved stakeholder involvement in the scientific and technical developments
